Flu season is upon us, and Sentara Healthcare is urging the Hampton Roads community to get their flu shots sooner rather than later. If you recall, the vaccine was rather ineffective because so many got it late and didn't give the body to build up the strength to fight the bug!
Most doctors agree that it can take up to two weeks for the vaccine to produce the antibodies needed to protect against the flu. Although there are other options to stay safe, such as washing your hands frequently and avoiding touching your face, officials say the single best way to protect against the flu is through a flu shot.
