Famous actor and comedian John Witherspoon has passed away at the age of 77.
His family confirmed the news via his Twitter account yesterday (Tuesday), saying he died at his home in Sherman Oaks, CA.
"John used to say ‘I’m no big deal’, but he was huge deal to us," said the family in a statement to Deadline.
Witherspoon was best known for his role as Willie Jones in the Friday movies and for voicing Robert Jebediah "Grandad" Freeman in The Boondocks.
He had a long career, which also included The Richard Pryor Show, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, Living Single, The Tracy Morgan Show, Black-ish, and much more.
