I'm a weirdo.
The part of The Grammys that everyone hates - definitively the most boring part of the night - is always one of my favorite parts. Neil Portnow, head of the Recording Academy, comes out on stage with his gray beard and glasses and tells us all why we should buy music and give band teachers more hugs. It's boring. I love it.
But when asked about the fact that only one female artist received an award on Sunday night's telecast, his answer was...puzzling.
It has to begin with… women who have the creativity in their hearts and souls, who want to be musicians, who want to be engineers, producers, and want to be part of the industry on the executive level...
Ok, that kinda makes sense, right? But then...
[They need] to step up because I think they would be welcome.
Oh no...he didn't.
Step up? Yeah, that didn't go over well, especially with one of the night's performers, P!nk.
Could that have been written any better? Preach!
