Today was already heavy. It was a day where we are mourning the loss of 32 lives during a mass shooting at Virginia Tech University April 16, 2007.
To add to this, we also mourn the loss of eight additional lives that were taken selfishly late last night at a Fedex facility. The gunman, 19 year old Brandon Scott Hole, went to the Indianapolis facility and opened fire. Indianapolis Deputy Police Chief Craig McCartt detailed the fatal event,"The suspect came to the facility, he got out of his car and pretty quickly started some random shooting outside the facility. Then he did go into the facility for a brief time before he took his own life."
President Biden issued a statement saying, " Gun violence is an epidemic in America. But we should not accept it. We must act." He also ordered the flag at the White House to be lowered to half-staff.
