Billy Dee Williams caused a stir in the Star Wars fandom after an interview with Esquire magazine, in which he said he sees himself "as feminine as well as masculine."
Media outlets and fans ran with it, praising Williams for "coming out" as gender fluid.
Well... it turns out, his comments were completely misinterpreted.
In a new interview with The Undefeated, he admits that gender fluid is "a whole new term" to him - and that he was misunderstood.
"What I was talking about was about men getting in touch with their softer side of themselves," he said.
“I was talking about men getting in touch with the female side of themselves. I wasn’t talking about sex, I wasn’t talking about being gay or straight."
To further clarify, William said he definitely identifies as a male.
