Britney's Parents Face Off in Court for Control -- Judge Delays Decision

Britney Spears avoided a family feud in a Los Angles courtroom.

Her parents, Lynne and Jamie Spears, appeared before the judge on Wednesday to declare they know best who ought to be the conservator. According to a source, Britney wants her father removed “immediately” and permanently.

Jamie Spears convinced the judge to remove reporters from the courtroom. Before that happened, the parents appeared to be at odds. Lynne Spears brought her attorney and another for Britney. They sat on the opposite side of the room from Jamie.

By the end of the day, it appeared Jamie Spears still wielded control. The judge punted at making a #FreeBritney decision until after the New Year, when Jamie is scheduled to resume as conservator. Britney’s mother suggested a “neutral third party” instead. (Us Weekly)

  • Next court date to #FreeBritney is scheduled for January 22nd.
  • Britney’s mental health evaluator died suddenly, which complicated finalizing the analysis in time for this hearing.
  • Jamie Spears is temporarily out as conservator because he was accused of abusing a grandchild. After an investigation, prosecutors chose not to charge him.
  • Britney has spent more than half her adult life under a conservatorship where her father makes every financial and personal decision for her.
