Five real-life strippers watched at the theater the Jennifer Lopez movie Hustlers to critique the pole dancing and fact-check the plot.
One of the dancers sobbed throughout Hustlers because it was “so real and relatable.”
Most of the movie is accurate. However, one of the dancers said J-Lo’s scene where she offered her fur coat to Constance Wu’s character did not ring true “Strippers are not that nice to each other!”
The dancers all shook their head in agreement when J-Lo’s character said “This whole country is a strip club. You got people tossing the money and people doing the dance.”
Also hitting a nerve were scenes of a club manager taking a large cut of a stripper’s money. Ending the night with very little money after splitting the bills with the other club employees. And going home to a boyfriend with zero desire for sex. (The Daily Beast)
