9/11 Remembrance Events In Hampton Roads

Today is the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks in 2001.

Many events are happening around Hampton Roads today in honor of those who lost their lives on that day.

  • CHESAPEAKE: A ceremony will be held at the 9/11 Memorial at Chesapeake City Park, with a bell tolling at 8:46am (the time that the attacks started). A separate even will be at the Courtyard Square Park at 6pm.
  • NEWPORT NEWS: A ceremony will be held at City Hall at 10am. Attendees are asked to meet at the front of City Hall at the Police and Fire memorial.
  • PORTSMOUTH: A ceremony will be held at High Street Landing on the Flag Pole Stage at 6pm

Naval Support Activity (NSA) Hampton Roads will honor the victims in a memorial walk around the base at 8:30 am, followed by a formal ceremony that is scheduled to include Capt. Ken Inglesby (Ret), who worked at the Pentagon on September 11th, 2001.

State Farm agents in Virginia are also coming together to honor local first responders with a free lunch for them with the Blackwater BBQ Food Truck from 12pm to 5pm at 3415 Virginia Beach Blvd.
