Leonardo DiCaprio is a known celebrity environmentalist, and now he's doing his part to help the Amazon rain forest, which is currently suffering from a surge in wildfires.
He’s pledging $5 million through his newly launched Earth Alliance to support the preservation of the Amazon.
Earth Alliance is "a climate change organization led by an independent management team of scientists and conservationists, working to protect ecosystems and wildlife, ensure climate justice, support renewable energy and secure indigenous rights."
The money from Leo will be donated to 5 local organizations:
- Instituto Associacao Floresta Protegida (Kayapo)
- Coordination of the Indigenous Organizations of the Brazilian Amazon (COIAB) Instituto Kabu (Kayapo)
- Instituto Raoni (Kayapo)
- Instituto Socioambiental (ISA)
