WARNING: Dangerous Bacteria Found in Norfolk Beach

A swimming advisory has been issued for Captains Quarter Beach in Norfolk.

According to Virginia state officials, the amount of bacteria found exceeds safe levels.

Waters in our area are monitored for bacteria during the summer months.

An advisory doesn’t close the beach to swimmers — it just warns you that you face elevated risk.

The risk is higher for children, who are more likely to swallow the water, or those who have open wounds or weakened immune systems.
