Taylor Swift released a new single, "The Archer," Tuesday afternoon. A premature Spotify push notification caused a brief fan meltdown but the problem was fixed and the song began streaming. It's already gotten more than 1.5 million plays on YouTube. The track is from an upcoming album called Lover.
She sings, “I’ve been the archer / I’ve been the prey / Screaming, ‘Who could ever leave me, darling? / But who could stay?'"
On Instagram, Swift wrote “There’s a lot that’s covered emotionally and I really wanted to give you track five before the album came out. I didn’t realize I was doing this, but as I was making albums, I guess I was just kind of putting a very vulnerable, personal, honest, emotional song as track five.”
