A$AP Rocky’s assault arrest in Sweden has become a full-blown international incident.
On Friday afternoon, President Trump tweeted that he had spoken with Kanye West and would do what he can to help A$AP Rocky. The president offered to personally vouch for the Harlem rapper, asserting that he’s not a flight risk and that Trump will cover bail (but Sweden does not use bail in its court system). He also called the Swedish Prime Minister, who vowed to treat Rocky fairly.
TMZ reports that Trump’s efforts to advocate for Rocky could backfire, as the Swedish government sees the added pressure as an attempt to influence the “independence of the Swedish judicial system, prosecutors and courts."
Rocky faces six years in prison if charged and convicted of assaulting a man who was seen on camera antagonizing and assaulting him first. (TMZ)
