Now, it looks like Javier Bardem is in early talks to play the role of King Triton, who is Ariel's father.
Halle Bailey is playing the role of Ariel, while Melissa McCarthy and Harry Styles are in talks to play Ursula and Prince Eric.
More casting news should be coming within the next few weeks as the filmmakers are preparing to start filming in early 2020.
