Ja Rule’s attempt to sink a Fyre Festival fraud lawsuit is dead in the water.
Ja filed a motion to dismiss a class action lawsuit filed by ticket holders who claim he blatantly lied while hyping the failed luxury music fest. While the judge agreed that several of the allegedly fraudulent posts either can’t be classified as fraud or can’t be attributed to the rapper, at least one tweet raised a red flag. When Ja tweeted, “The stage is set!! In less than 24 hours, the first annual Fyre Festival begins,” he screwed up, because as we now know, the event wound up being scrapped on the first day and never went off as planned
The legal complaint alleges that Ja and other organizers privately tipped off performers not to bother coming before he posted that tweet. Plaintiffs also allege he should have known the festival didn’t have any of the promised amenities in place. (TMZ)
