Readers will be able to return to Panem in 2020, because The Hunger Games is getting a prequel!
Author Suzanne Collins says the book will be released on May 19th, 2020… and that means another movie will follow, as well.
The story will take place 64 years before the time of the original trilogy - during the "Dark Days," AKA the failed rebellion in Panem.
"With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival," Collins said in a statement.
"The reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days — as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet — provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity."
Lionsgate also confirmed that a movie adaptation will follow the book's release, saying they look forward to continuing to work closely with Suzanne on the movie."
