Marie Kondo Accused of Stealing Folding Method

A celebrity organizer named Linda Koopersmith has spoken out against Japanese Netflix sensation Marie Kondo, saying that she stole her folding technique.

Linda has been in business for more than 30 years, and has had many celebrity clients including Serena Williams, Jennifer Lopez, and Khloe Kardashian.

“What Marie calls her KonMari Method, is actually a folding technique created by me 27 years ago," Linda said to Page Six. "It was published in my book in 2005, it was shown on the TV show ‘Clean House’ for years and seen on YouTube videos."

She says that Marie Kondo stole the technique from her and presented it as her own, and she wants some of the credit.

"Nobody has asked her, ‘How did you come up with this?’ When I first saw Marie demonstrate my fold on TV as her own, it was so upsetting," said Linda. "I felt like somebody had stolen my baby.”

Marie Kondo has sold more than 11 million copies of her book The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing.
