Comedian Chris Rock is venturing into the world of horror!
Variety reports that he's taken on the role of executive producer for a brand new movie in Lionsgate's Saw franchise.
The movie is being described as a "spinoff," and apparently Chris himself came up with the story for it! It will be written by Pete Goldfinger and Josh Stolberg, the writers of Jigsaw (the 8th and most recent movie in the franchise).
Chris says that he's been a big fan of Saw ever since the first movie in 2004, and he's "excited by the opportunity to take this to a really intense and twisted new place."
Darren Lynn Bousman, who directed Saw II,Saw III, and Saw IV, will return to direct. And of course, joining Chris Rock as executive producers are the creators of the entire Saw franchise, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
The movie is currently untitled and no casting information has been released yet. It's scheduled for an October 23rd, 2020 release.
