While much has been made of famous and rich people who paid big money to get their kids INTO college, it seems R. Kelly has taken a different route. According to PerezHilton.com, his daughter has been denied class enrollment at her college because he neglected to pay her tuition fees.
According Buku Abi (she was born Joann Lee), she's been unable to take courses at a California arts college after being informed that her father hadn’t covered the unpaid bills. But that's not all - she alleges that he also stopped paying for her books and the rent for her college apartment.
Here's the problem - taking care of this business is clearly directed as part of his child support agreement with his ex-wife, Andrea Kelly. Specifically, it states that he must pay his children’s college-related expenses until they're 23-years old...Buku is 21.
Kelly's lawyers say that while their client is willing to fulfill his legal obligations, in this instance, he didn’t pay his daughter’s remaining balances because he assumed she had dropped out of school. His other excuse? That he never saw the bills.
