Marshmello Is Being Sued Over "Happier"

One of the biggest hits in the past year is Marshmello's “Happier” featuring Bastille, but now another DJ is claiming that he stole the song.

Artem Stoliarov - aka Arty - has filed a lawsuit claiming the melody Marshmello uses for “Happier” is a ripoff his 2014 remix of One Republic's "I Lived." In fact, Arty argues that the order of the first 19 out of 20 notes in Marshmello’s track is identical to his remix.

Arty also says that he and Marshmello know each other, and insists that Marshmello saw him perform “I Lived” at one of his shows. Arty released his remix in 2014. It peaked at number 2 in the Billboard Hot 100 and it has nearly 4 million plays on YouTube.
