Alex Trebek: Kicking Cancer's Butt and Returning to Work

Alex Trebek isn't letting cancer slow him down. The host returned to the Jeopardy! set Wednesday, a week after announcing his stage 4 pancreatic cancer diagnosis.

A Jeopardy! spokesperson tells CBS, "We are taping today, and Alex is here and behind his lectern as scheduled."

In his video announcement on his diagnosis, the 78-year-old promised to fight the disease and keep working.

Meanwhile, a mother from Atlanta who survived stage 4 pancreatic cancer in 2012 has written an open letter to Trebek, urging him to stay positive. In the note, Elise Tedeschi said, "I beat the crap out of stage 4 pancreatic cancer and have been in in full remission for six and a half years. So Alex Trebek, go kick cancer's butt -- it has no chance against you! You got this!"
