Wow, unless you had bet the Patriots and the under that had to be the most boring Super Bowl you have ever seen— because it was the lowest scoring Super Bowl ever.
In fact, when the first half ended with the Pats leading 3-0, it proved to be the lowest scoring first half since Super Bowl 9 where the Steelers led the Vikes 2-0. Of course, those fans got to see three more TD’s in the second half at Tulane Stadium.
Not so much for the fans in Atlanta or the viewers at home as by the time the game rolled into the final quarter tied at 3-all, neither team had taken a single snap in the red zone.
Turns out the Rams never would.
Hey, the Patriots had just one snap in the red zone—but they made the most of it as Brady handed off to Sony Michel for a two-yard TD run—the only TD of the entire game that put the Pats up 10-3.
But that play was set up on the previous play—this 29-yard pass to Rob Gronkowski on what may be the final catch of his career. And maybe it would be fitting as that reception gave him 87-yards on the game—the number he wore his entire career.
The win gave the Patriots their sixth Super Bowl—tying them with the Steelers for the most ever.
But the win also put one man in a class by himself. Tom Brady— the only NFL player ever to have six Super Bowl Rings.
As for his head coach Bill Belichick—his six Super Bowls as a head coach tie him for the most ever with George Halas and Curly Lambeau .
