Kate Hudson Defends Herself Over Weight Watchers Backlash

We previously reported that the Twitterverse took issue with Kate Hudson being announced as the new ambassador for WW, aka Weight Watchers. She got some hate for not being a good role model for weight loss, since she’s been in shape most of her life (even in between pregnancies). Now the actress has spoken out to defend her role.

Hudson appeared on NBC’s “Today” yesterday to address the backlash. Since the company has now rebranded itself with the tagline “Wellness That Works,” the actress noted that she didn’t team up with WW with the goal of only losing weight from her most recent pregnancy. Instead, she wants to “stay healthy, focused and balanced,” especially after “having three babies.”

Hudson also said that the company is “a community for people to understand their health better, holistically.” “To me, [WW] is all about support," she noted. "You always need a support system, whether it be a trainer, a best friend an app."
