If you can go without your cell phone for a year - and prove it - Vitaminwater will pay you.
The company decided to try a promotion that syncs up with its “break the monotony” mantra. After all, scrolling endlessly, day after day is monotonous. Vitaminwater will pony up 100-thousand dollars to one person who actually does get through a year without their smart phone.
The contest announcement on their website says “Vitaminwater is challenging fans to take on this mission to call attention to the monotony found in their own day-to-day life —from scrolling through their social media to eating the same thing every day — in order to discover a more vibrant way of living outside of the lines.”
As far as proving it, a lie detector test is part of the rules. To enter, share how you would spend your year if you took a break from your smartphone on Twitter or Instagram using the hashtags #NoPhoneforaYear and #Contest. You have through January 8.
Around January 22, the company will pick one person to go without their smart phone. The winner will get an emergency phone to use; a 2000s Nokia 3310! If you fail to make the year, you still get 10-thousand bucks.
