As we previously told you, Beyoncé and Ed Sheeran performed Ed’s hit “Perfect” together this weekend at the Global Citizen Festival in South Africa, and while the performance may have been, well, perfect, some folks had a few things to say about it, specifically about Ed’s outfit.
During the performance Bey was decked out in an elaborate magenta gown, while Ed is basically wearing jeans and a long-sleeved T-shirt, with a short-sleeved shirt over it. And while the style of dress is pretty much what you’d expect from both stars, the Internet is in a tizzy over it, with some noting that it shows how much harder women have to work in the business, with others defending Ed’s choice of clothing.
“Ed Sheeran is a 27 year old man the fact we’ve enabled him to feel it’s ok to dress like this at all, let alone next to Beyoncé really boils my piss,” one person wrote, while another added, “Even tho I appreciate good musicians in normal clothes the double standard is ridiculous... what is expected of female vs male artists.”
