One-time senator Bob Dole was a two-time rival to George H.W. Bush for the Republican nomination for president. On Tuesday, that rivalry was put aside as the 95-year-old Dole paid tribute to the former president by rising from his wheelchair, with the assistance of an aide, to stand before Bush's casket.
Dole's show of respect was applauded by Bush's son Jeb, who wrote on Twitter, "Just incredible. Thank You Senator Dole." (The Washington Post)
