Pregnant Princess Meghan Not Afraid of Zika in Fiji

Meghan Markle takes every precaution against the Zika virus while visiting Fiji.

The virus, which is spread by mosquitoes, can cause devastating birth defects. Medical experts recommend that pregnant women “should not travel to areas with risk of Zika,” including Fiji. So Meghan arrived to the tropical island wearing long sleeves and flowing gowns.

A doctor explained, (quote) “Generally the risk is low but, mosquitoes can bite through jeans. So if the clothing is loose it’s much harder for the mosquito to bite. Wearing light-colored clothing can help. Mosquitoes are often attracted to dark fabrics.”  (People)

An unexpectedly large crowd caused a "security risk." It forced Meghan to cut short her visit to a public market on Fiji that empowers women entrepreneurs. (E! News)
