President Trump and Others React to Taylor Swift's Politics

As we previously told you, Taylor Swift just made a rare political statement, posting a message of support for Democratic Senate candidate Phil Bredesen and Democratic Congressman Jim Cooper, who are both running for office in Tennessee. As you can imagine, a lot of people had opinions about Taylor finally getting political and not all of them are positive.

  • First off, since she blasted Republican candidate Marsha Blackburn, the National Republican Senatorial Committee issued a press releasemocking the singer, noting "If you haven’t heard, multimillionaire pop star Taylor Swift came down from her ivory tower to tell hardworking Tennesseans to vote for Phil Bredesen.” They then suggest Taylor’s being a hypocrite since Bredesen has been criticized for how he handled sexual harassment claims while he was governor, writing, "Guess when it comes to letting sexual harassment get in the way of political gain, Taylor Swift’s attitude is to just shake it off…"
  • Meanwhile, some folks claimed they would no longer be fans of the singer because of her stance, while Mike Huckabee also blasted Taylor tweeting, “So @taylorswift13 has every right to be political but it won’t impact election unless we allow 13 yr old girls to vote. Still with #MarshaBlackburn.”
  • Even President Trump chimed in telling reporters, "let's just say I like Taylor's music 25-percent less now." Check out his comments to the right.
  • Still, Taylor got plenty of support from celebrities and fans alike, with some people even noting that the whole thing is a rekindling of the Taylor/Kanye West feud since Kaye has come out to support Donald Trump.
