Ben Affleck is speaking out for the first time since entering rehab. In a post to his Instagram, he confirms that he recently completed 40 days at the treatment center for alcohol addiction and is in outpatient care.
The actor thanks his family, colleagues and fans for their support, which he says has given him “the strength and support to speak about my illness with others.” He also opens up about his battle with addiction, noting that it’s a lifelong struggle for many. “It is a full-time commitment,” he writes. “I am fighting for myself and my family.”
Affleck also sends a message to those on their own journey with addiction. “It helps to know I am not alone,” he adds. “As I’ve had to remind myself, if you have a problem, getting help is a sign of courage, not weakness or failure.”
- ONE MORE THING! We previously reported that despite reports that Jennifer Garner wanted to hold off settling their divorce until Ben was sober, the two reportedly reached a settlement they’re set to file when he leaves rehab. Now that things are looking up for the actor since he reached his 40-day milestone in rehab and is in outpatient care, it looks like she’s ready to move things along. According to TMZ, she’s filed to move her divorce to a private judge in hopes of speeding up the process… which could make her a single woman by the end of the year.
