Sam Smith and Calvin Harris pay tribute to Voguers in the video for their song 'Promises.'
Here's more from Rolling Stone:
The visual opens with a series of dancers describing the sense of freedom found through dance culture. “Growing up in the Bronx you have to carry this tough skin,” one dancer says. “Finding Vogue, it allowed me to express myself in a way that I couldn’t express myself anywhere else.”
“I make no promises/ I can’t do golden rings/ But I’ll give you everything,” Smith sings on the house track, which was co-written by Harris, Smith and Jessie Reyez. “Magic is in the air/ There ain’t no science here/ So come get your everything.”
Directed by Emil Nava, the video is shot in warehouse-turned dance club, and features model Winnie Harlow alongside many Voguers who groove the catwalk, a rooftop and at the club.
“Promises” follows Harris’ PartyNextDoor collaboration “Nuh Ready Nuh Ready” and the Dua Lipa-assisted “One Kiss.” Meanwhile, Smith is in the midst of his 2018 North American tour in support of The Thrill of it All.
