John Goodman: Roseanne Is Dead

ohn Goodman has finally broken his silence in this whole “Roseanne” thing. For one, John was completely shocked both with Roseanne’ Barr’s now infamous tweet and the swiftness of ABC’s response. He added that he knows for a fact that she’s not racist. He didn’t elaborate on how he knew.

As for the show’s cancellation, Goodman said, “I was broken-hearted, but I thought, ‘OK, it’s just show business, I’m going to let it go.’” But he couldn’t let it go, and actually was caught up in depression for about a month. “I’m a depressive anyway, so any excuse that I can get to lower myself, I will. But that had a great deal to do with it, more than I wanted to admit.”

Now that “The Connors” is back in business, John is feeling better. At this point, the network hasn’t said how they’ll explain Barr’s absence. But John offers, “I guess he’ll be mopey and sad because his wife’s dead.” We’ll find out everything when “The Connors” premieres in October.
