Raise a Red Umbrella to Support Girl with Cancer

Supporters of a 14-year-old swimmer whoโ€™s battling terminal bone cancer came out to show their love at a swim meet. Grace Bunke, affectionately known as โ€œAmazing Graceโ€ to her loved ones, qualified for the state swim meet in Georgia, but her illness kept her home that day.

That didnโ€™t stop her fans from showing their support, though. They all held red umbrellas, adding lots of color to the stands in Amazing Graceโ€™s honor. Why umbrellas? Theyโ€™re a tribute to Graceโ€™s favorite quote: โ€œPrayer is asking for rain. Faith is bringing the umbrella.โ€

And when Grace couldnโ€™t make it to swim that day, Olympic silver medal swimmer Amanda Weir swam in her place. โ€œI was so honored to be asked to swim for her today,โ€ she says.
