Luke Perry was hospitalized after suffering a stroke last week. Sadly, the damage was too severe, and the actor passed away yesterday morning. Just 52, he was said to be surrounded by family and close friends. Reps for the actor say that he had been sedated by doctors in hopes he could come back from the massive stroke, but nothing could be done.
Beloved for his roles on “Riverdale” and “90210,” Perry was surrounded by his children, ex-wife Minnie Sharp and others were there. Among them? Fiancée Wendy Madison Bauer. You heard that right. Apparently, Perry and Bauer had been engaged for some time, but Perry was extremely private - and kept his cards very close to the vest.
Yesterday, we told you about all those well wishes to Perry flooding social media. Now, there's a new wave of reaction - and Perry's family is grateful for all the love. In a statement, the family thanks fans and stars alike for “the outpouring of support and prayers that have been extended to Luke from around the world.” Check out the new tributes below.
·According to TMZ and The Hollywood Reporter, “Riverdale” has halted production upon the news of Perry’s death. In a statement, “Riverdale” execs call Perry “everything you would hope he would be: an incredibly caring, consummate professional with a giant heart, and a true friend to all.” “A father figure and mentor to the show’s young cast, Luke was incredibly generous,” the statement continues. “He infused the set with love and kindness. Our thoughts are with Luke’s family during this most difficult time.”
He may be gone, but we'll still see Perry one more time. How? He’s set to appear in a few more episodes of “Riverdale.” But he's also got a role in Quentin Taratino's upcoming film, “Once Upon A Time In Hollywood,” which will open in theaters July 26th.
