The question on the minds of so many people is this – if Jussie Smollett did fake his attack, where did he come up with such a scheme? One theory is that he was trying to play on the sympathies of his boss, Lee Daniels, in hopes of becoming “an LGBT hero.”
Some “Empire” cast members think Jussie got the idea when Daniels shared the story about his cousingetting beat up for being gay on IG last month. At the time, he told his gay brothers and sisters that it was “okay to be who you are” and “inevitably right will be done.” After sharing more of the story with the cast, a source said that everyone was “visibly upset” that Lee’s family member had gone through that.
As you might recall, Daniels initially voiced his support of Jussie, but the posts have since been deleted. Recent word from the set is that the cast – which was furious – and is now calling for his immediate dismissal. What that means for future seasons is unknown, but for the moment, Smollett’s been written out of the final episodes of the season.
·One cast member that is standing behind Jussie? Terrence Howard. He shared a videoof Jussie playing with his real-life son, Hero, with the caption, “All your lil homies got you...We love the hell outta you.” Howard also defended Smollett against fans who were critical of his support. “Sorry you feel that way, but that’s the only Jussie I know,” he replied to one. The Jussie I know could never even conceive of something so unconscious and ugly. His innocence or judgment is not for any of us to decide. Stay in your lane and my lane is empathy and love and compassion for someone I’ve called my son for five years. It’s God’s job to judge and it’s ours to love and hope, especially for those that we claim to have loved.” Interesting words from a man who's admitting to beating the women in his life.
·ONE MORE THING! Jussie – who maintains his innocence – says he has evidence to dispute the police’s claim that he paid Ola and Abel Osundairo to help stage his hate attack. He says the $35-hundred dollar check was actually given for five weeks worth of trainingso he could get ready for his music video. In the memo line, he wrote, “5 week Nutrition/Workout program (Don’t Go).” Here are reportedly text messages that began on January 20th between the two about a meal plan and working out that support his claim. Jussie apparently wanted to lose 20 pounds because he was due to appear shirtless in the shoot, which was scheduled for February 23rd. In addition, there’s a Venmo screenshot showing that had paid “Bola” – the nickname of one of the brothers – a hundred bucks back in September, and they testified before the grand jury that the payment was for fitness.
