Remember when Julia Roberts made waves after appearing on a red carpet in London with unshaven armpits back in 1999? It turns out she wasn’t actually trying to make some kind of feminist statement, she just didn’t think her outfit all the way through.
Speaking with Busy Philipps on her new series “Busy Tonight,” the award-winning actress opened up about the iconic moment. She says that rather than trying to scream girl power, she was just exposed for the statement she makes daily “as a human on the planet, for myself.”
“The picture is vivid in my mind,” she noted. “I think I just hadn’t really calculated my sleeve length and the waving, and how those things would go together and reveal personal things about me,” Check out a clip of the interview to the right.
