YouTuber Blippi Outrages Parents with "Tour Scam"

Kid-friendly YouTube sensation Blippi announced his first-ever nationwide tour. Well, it looks like the news was too good to be true – parents are pissed after realizing that Blippi won’t even be showing up to his self-titled tour.

Rather than Stevin John, the real-life man behind the viral persona, an actor will be trekking across the country on his behalf. Not only to put on a show for the kids, but the “fake” Blippi will also be doing the meet-and-greets that are included with the tickets. While moms and dads' outrage and confusion is understandable, it's worth noting the tour’s website notes that the real Blippi won’t be taking part.

John’s explanation? Blippi “has always been a character” – so it’s not about who’s wearing the big orange glasses, it’s about their attitude. “I won’t be on the road, but I am obviously extremely involved with the whole process,” John says. “Blippi is a character and I’m the creative force behind it, [but] I can’t go on the road for many weeks or months at a time.”
