A funeral service has been set for Norfolk native Pernell "Sweet Pea" Whitaker this Saturday at the Norfolk Scope Arena.
The public viewing will be from 9 to 11am, and the service begins at 11 am. It will be open to the public.
Flowers can be sent to the Metropolitan Funeral Home at 120 W. Berkley Avenue in Norfolk.
The Olympic gold medalist and champion boxer died after being hit by a car in Virginia Beach late on Sunday night. He was a local hero for Hampton Roads and the city of Norfolk.
